Cliff Path (Land-Based Viewing)

The Hermanus Cliff Path covers almost 12km of coastline from the New Harbour to Grotto Beach.

Walking this trail is completely free and provides exceptional land-based viewing of Southern Right Whales. Sections of the path run through the Fernkloof Nature Reserve and feature wheelchair and pushchair-friendly routes.

During peak season from August to October, whales often swim just meters from the rocky shoreline. Keep an eye out for the official Whale Crier, who sounds a kelp horn to announce sightings along the route.
