Permitted vessels depart from the New Harbour to observe whales from a legally allowed distance of 50 meters. The sanctuary waters can be choppy, so taking anti-nausea medication is helpful if you are prone to seasickness.

Before or after your boat trip, you can explore the Old Harbour Museum in the center of town. It highlights the historical fishing industry of the region.
